How Dream11 Points Work

Dream11 awards points based on real match performances. Every run scored, wicket taken, catch held, and milestone reached translates into fantasy points. Your total team score is the sum of all 11 players' points.

The captain earns 2x points and the vice-captain earns 1.5x points — making captain selection the most important decision in your team.

Points That People Miss

1. Duck Penalty Applies Only If Dismissed

A batsman who finishes 0* (not out) does NOT get the -2 penalty. Only players who are actually dismissed for 0 lose points.

2. Retired Out Counts as Dismissed

If a batsman retires out (tactical retirement), it counts as a -2 dismissal. Retired hurt does NOT.

3. No Bowling Points for Run Outs

Even if a batsman is run out off the bowler's delivery, the bowler gets 0 points for that dismissal. Only the fielder(s) involved in the run out earn points.

4. Strike Rate Only Counts After 10 Balls

If a batsman faces 9 balls or fewer, the strike rate bonus/penalty does NOT apply. This protects late-order batsmen who face only a few balls.

5. Economy Rate Only Counts After 2 Overs

If a bowler bowls fewer than 2 overs, the economy rate bonus/penalty does NOT apply.

6. Catches by Substitute Fielders

Catches taken by substitute fielders do NOT earn fantasy points for anyone.

How are run out points calculated in Dream11?

A direct hit run out (the fielder hits the stumps directly) gives +12 points to the fielder. If the run out involves a throw to the keeper/another fielder who then breaks the stumps, the thrower gets +6 points (assist). The bowler gets 0 points for a run out dismissal.
