The Women's T20 World Cup 2026 in India is confirmed for September 26 to October 18, 2026. The BCCI has finalised the four host cities, the group draw is set, and JioHotstar holds the broadcast. Here is the full picture of the tournament.
The four host cities
Mumbai (Wankhede), Bengaluru (Chinnaswamy), Visakhapatnam (ACA-VDCA) and Mullanpur (Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International). Wankhede hosts the final. Chinnaswamy hosts the semi-finals on October 14 and 15. Visakhapatnam and Mullanpur host the group-stage doubleheaders. The four-venue model concentrates the broadcast crew and reduces travel for the squads.
Format and group draw
Ten teams split into two groups of five. Group A — India, Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Bangladesh. Group B — England, South Africa, West Indies, Sri Lanka, Scotland (qualifier winner). Each team plays four group games. Top two from each group qualify for the semi-finals. The tournament total is 23 matches across 23 days.
India's group fixtures
India open against New Zealand at Wankhede on September 27. Then India vs Pakistan at Chinnaswamy on October 1 — the marquee fixture. India vs Bangladesh at Visakhapatnam October 5, India vs Australia at Wankhede October 10. The Pakistan game is expected to sell out within 90 minutes of ticket release.
Broadcast deal — JioHotstar locks the rights
JioHotstar has the global Indian sub-continent rights. Disney+ Hotstar for the international territory, Sky Sports for UK, Foxtel for Australia. Every match streams free on JioHotstar mobile, with prime-time slots on Star Sports. The deal is reported at around $80M for the four-year cycle.
Prize money and ICC investment
Total prize pool is $13.88M — a 297% increase from 2024. Winner takes $2.34M, runner-up $1.17M. Semi-finalists earn $675k each. This is the first Women's T20 WC where prize money matches the Men's 2022 edition. The ICC is funding production at full Men's ICC tournament standards.
Pitch and scheduling notes
October in India means the post-monsoon window. Visakhapatnam and Mullanpur pitches favour 160-180 chases. Wankhede and Chinnaswamy lean to 180-plus. The doubleheaders run 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM IST. Single-game days start 7:30 PM IST.
What India must do
India Women are co-favourites with Australia. Smriti Mandhana's opening role, Harmanpreet's captaincy and Richa Ghosh's finishing are locked. The selection question is the third seamer — Pooja Vastrakar versus Renuka Singh — and the second spinner alongside Deepti Sharma.
