Most Runs in IPL โ Virat Kohli's Dominance
Virat Kohli sits atop the all-time IPL run-scoring charts with an incredible 8,004 runs. What makes this record even more remarkable is that Kohli has spent his entire IPL career with a single franchise โ Royal Challengers Bengaluru (formerly Bangalore). His best season came in 2016 when he amassed a staggering 973 runs in a single campaign, a record that still stands and may never be broken. That season included four centuries and seven fifties in just 16 innings, with a strike rate of 152.03.
Behind Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan (6,769 runs) and Rohit Sharma (6,586 runs) complete the top three. Suresh Raina, often called "Mr. IPL", retired with 5,528 runs and was the first player to reach 1,000, 2,000, 3,000, 4,000, and 5,000 IPL runs.
Highest Score in IPL โ Gayle's 175*
Chris Gayle's 175 not out against Pune Warriors India in 2013 is arguably the most iconic innings in IPL history. Gayle reached his century off just 30 balls (the fastest IPL century ever) and went on to score 175* off 66 deliveries, smashing 17 sixes and 13 fours. RCB posted 263/5 in that match, and Gayle's strike rate was an astonishing 265.15.
Fastest Fifty in IPL โ KL Rahul's 14-Ball Blitz
KL Rahul smashed the fastest fifty in IPL history when he reached 50 off just 14 balls for Punjab Kings against Delhi Capitals in 2018. That innings saw Rahul finish with 51 off 16 balls, helping his team to a blazing start in the powerplay.

The leg-spinner has been one of the most consistent performers across his time with RCB and later Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings. His ability to take wickets in the middle overs has made him invaluable in T20 cricket.
Best Bowling Figures โ Alzarri Joseph's 6/12
Alzarri Joseph produced one of the most sensational debut performances in IPL history when he took 6 wickets for just 12 runs for Mumbai Indians against Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2019. The West Indian fast bowler demolished the SRH batting lineup in just 3.4 overs, registering the best bowling figures in IPL history.

Highest Team Total โ RCB's 287/3
Royal Challengers Bangalore posted the highest-ever IPL total of 287/3 against Gujarat Lions in 2017. Fueled by blistering innings from Chris Gayle and A.B. de Villiers, RCB smashed 21 sixes in the innings โ another IPL record. This total remains the benchmark for batting dominance in the tournament.
Lowest Team Total โ RCB's 49
In a bizarre twist of fate, the same franchise also holds the unwanted record for the lowest team total in IPL history. RCB were bowled out for just 49 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2017. Sunil Narine took 3/18 and the KKR bowling attack restricted RCB to their most embarrassing day in IPL history.
Most IPL Titles
Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings are tied at the top with 5 titles each. MI won in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020 โ three of those finals decided by the narrowest of margins. CSK won in 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021, and 2023, making MS Dhoni the most successful captain in IPL history. Kolkata Knight Riders have won 3 titles (2012, 2014, 2024), while the inaugural champions Rajasthan Royals won in 2008.

| Most Catches in an Innings | Multiple | 4 |
Suresh Raina holds the record for the most catches by a non-wicketkeeper in IPL history with 109 catches. His athleticism at slip and in the outfield made him one of the finest fielders the tournament has seen.
Behind the stumps, MS Dhoni is the undisputed king. With 175 total dismissals (133 catches + 42 stumpings), Dhoni's lightning-quick glovework has produced some of the most iconic moments in IPL history. His stumpings, in particular, are legendary โ often completed in a fraction of a second against spinners like Ravindra Jadeja and Harbhajan Singh.
๐ค IPL Partnership Records
Highest partnerships for each wicket in IPL history.

The Virat Kohli โ A.B. de Villiers partnership holds two of the top three highest partnerships in IPL history. Their 229-run stand against Gujarat Lions in 2016 was part of Kohli's legendary season where he scored 973 runs. The duo's understanding and ability to rotate strike while also clearing the boundary at will made them the most feared batting pair in IPL history.

Records Most Likely to Break in IPL 2026
Several all-time records are under threat heading into IPL 2026. Here are the ones to watch:
- โถVirat Kohli needs just ~500 runs to cross 8,500 career IPL runs, extending his own record further into uncharted territory.
- โถYuzvendra Chahal could push past 220 career wickets if he has a strong season, setting a benchmark that may stand for years.
- โถJasprit Bumrah's dot ball record continues to grow โ he could reach 1,500+ career dot balls in IPL 2026.
- โถImpact player rule and flat pitches mean Virat Kohli's 973-run season record is always under threat from in-form batters.
